Supporting Scottish Companies in the US

The purpose of Scottish American Business Alliance (SABA) is to provide practical assistance to Scottish businesses opening offices, or acquiring businesses, in the United States. We do this by helping them to identify their specific needs, and referring them to individuals and businesses that can assist them in meeting those needs.

For example, a company opening offices in the U.S. may need a realtor for office and living space, a business attorney to set up a U.S. entity, an accountant to address tax questions, a payroll specialist for U.S. employees, and an immigration attorney for visa assistance. SABA facilitates those introductions to meet their needs.

In 2007 Lisa started her own business, Texas Bookkeepers, and within three years her company was announced as Number 2 out of the "100 Fastest Growing Businesses" in Houston, in 2011 and 2012, Texas Bookkeepers was the Houston winner of the "Bookkeeping Systems and Services Category" from the U.S. Commerce Association. Additionally in 2012 the Houston Business Journal ranked her company as number 12 of the "25 Fastest Growing Women Owned Businesses." In 2014 she was a finalist for the Texas Women's Hall of Fame.

Lisa is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and a member of BABC (British-American Business Council), American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers, Lifestyles Unlimited, the Houston Apartment Association, The West Houston Chamber of Commerce, The Common Sense Networking Group, Bazemore Business Group, Memorial BNI, the APL, The Marine Technology Society and The Hydrographic Society of America, Houston Chapter. She is currently a member of The Scottish American Business Alliance, which is working with the British American Business Council and located in Scotland. Lisa has been asked to determine if there is a need for a Scottish Chamber of Commerce in Houston.

Today, Lisa is the Marketing and Business Development Director at Alonzo, Bacarisse, Irvine and Palmer (ABIP), a Houston-based accounting firm with offices in Houston and San Antonio. As she did with Texas Bookkeepers, Lisa has brought recognition to the company by winning several prestigious awards, including INC's 500/5000, the Houston Business Journal's "Top 20 CPA Firms", "Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies" (twice), and "Best Places to Work", as well as the West Houston Chamber of Commerce 2014 Star Award.

His clients are primarily in the oil & gas, technology, manufacturing and distribution industries, and range in size from small, start-up businesses to large, established enterprises with international operations.
